Hi all!
This is Boston Climate Tech. This newsletter is a summary of community-submitted climate tech events in the Greater Boston area coming up in the next few weeks.
We have 14 events in the upcoming weeks- use this calendar or table view if you’d like to sort/filter.
Announcements
A few announcements before the event list:
💻 Do you have software engineer, data science, or machine learning friends interested in working in climate? Check out ClimateTechList - a guide/curated company list I launched recently for tech professionals looking to work in climate. I’ll be giving a talk about “Software Careers in Climate” at a virtual event on 5/31 7pm (see event list below)
🏢 What comes to mind when you think of business and climate change? No matter what you picture, one thing holds true: while the private sector is largely responsible for the climate crisis, businesses also have a tremendous amount of resources and influence—and therefore, an obligation—to take action. The Drawdown Roadmap for Business, presented by Project Drawdown, explores how businesses, with strategies backed by science, can leverage their clout and employee power to help the world address climate change. From deeply and quickly reducing emissions to advocating for critical climate policy, the video gives tangible examples of how businesses can utilize their influence and employee power to scale climate solutions. It’s time for companies to approach corporate sustainability with a new, holistic perspective that aligns all parts of their business with an equitable climate future.

In our first session, alumni Steven Zhang and Jaime and Jason Curtis will talk about frameworks for 1) - thinking about software careers in climate, and 2) thinking about personal career growth as a software engineer/professional. They will share how they got to where they are today, and how you can find the path, working on these hard problems, that is right for you.
Who Are We?
Meet Jaime, Jason, and Steven, all Olin class of 2012!
· Jaime & Jason Curtis built on their combined 20 years of experience in software and climate solutions to launch Option Zero, the software consultancy for climate companies & initiatives. Fun fact: while at Olin, they co-founded Olin Sailbot (now Olin Aquatic Robotics).
· Steven runs ClimateTechList.com, a company directory/job board for software engineers looking to work in climate. Previously he worked at Airtable and Tableau as a software engineer. Steven became an interviewing expert once culminating in getting 18 SWE offers out of 22 in a job search. Fun fact: he spent a year after Olin doing environmental journalism in China through the Fulbright program.
